Vista – California

This position is an integral part of the Planning team, which reports to the Deputy Director of Community Development/City Planner. The position processes applications requesting permits for residential, commercial, industrial and public projects; provides information to the public regarding City development standards and zoning requirements; performs preliminary review of plans to assist applicants in meeting City requirements; performs field review of development projects to assess compliance with City approvals; assists in preparation of environmental review documents to meet the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA); prepares and presents staff reports to the Zoning Administrator and Planning Commission; and performs related work as assigned.

Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates an ability to perform the duties of the position. A typical qualifying background is a Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, or closely related field, and one year of professional level experience performing planning duties.

Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.
