Civic San Diego (Civic SD) is the newly formed public, nonprofit corporation working on behalf of the City of San Diego to assist in completing redevelopment projects as well as overseeing land use permitting and planning, continued management of the downtown parking district, and economic development activities in the downtown and southeastern areas. Civic San Diego works with qualified developers, property owners and other public agencies on rehabilitation projects, new construction and public improvements.
The Assistant Vice President, Neighborhood Investment will manage the staff and activities of the Neighborhood Investment and Public Works Divisions, and assist in the formulation and execution of the Corporation’s programs in all matters required to develop and maintain an effective, efficient organization capable of meeting Corporation objectives and commitments. Areas of specialization include the urban neighborhood revitalization process, the capital improvement contracting process, activities related to the wind-down of redevelopment pursuant to the State dissolution legislation, developer solicitations and negotiations, land acquisition, relocation, public-private partnerships, urban infill development, public improvements, real estate financial analysis, property disposition, project management, affordable housing, economic development, equal opportunity administration, leadership, staff management and related administrative responsibilities of the Corporation.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public or business administration, finance, public policy, economics or related field and at least ten (10) years of public and/or private management experience with six (6) years in a responsible professional supervisory capacity and four (4) years in urban real estate planning, investment or development, economic development; or urban redevelopment programs. Candidates must also possess comprehensive knowledge of the neighborhood revitalization and economic development processes from concept planning to completion of contractual obligations and program implementation.
