The City of Coronado is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Associate Planner to join the Community Development Department.
Under general supervision direction, to perform professional level duties in support of the City’s current and advanced planning functions and resolve code violations; to research, compile, analyze and present data for land use, community development, and transportation planning programs; to provide clear and accurate technical and policy information to residents, developers, City departments, external agencies and the business community on the City’s zoning regulations and land use policies; and to perform a variety of duties relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: At least three years of increasingly responsible professional level planning experience.
Education/Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning or a related field.
Licenses and Certificates: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

Applicants considered most qualified will be contacted and invited to participate in an examination process (100%). Candidates who successfully complete the examination process will be placed on an eligibility list for a period of at least six months. To meet eligibility, candidates must score 70% or higher in all components of the examination process to be considered as having passed. Applicants will be notified via email of their eligibility status. All appointments are subject to successful completion of a pre-employment background check and medical examination.
