The City of Riverside, California, is recruiting regionally for a highly experienced professional to lead, inspire, and manage the strategic initiatives and day-to-day activities of the City Planning Division. The successful candidate will have a broad background in all aspects of city planning, urban design, land use, downtown revitalization and development, and environmental review with a public agency and a strong track record of success in managing a team dedicated to facilitating investment that results in quality placemaking. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban planning, public or business administration, or a closely related field is required. An advanced degree is highly desirable. This position requires a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional environmental and/or land use planning experience including 5 years of responsible management, supervisory, or administrative experience. Knowledge of the California Environmental Quality Act is required. The City is offering a competitive salary range from $105,576 to $134,760 per year (DOQ). In addition, this position is eligible for 15% merit pay. The City Planner will also receive an excellent benefits package including CalPERS.
