The San Diego Section of the American Planning Association, in conjunction with the Digital Gym Cinema, is presenting a viewing and discussion of the film “Citizen Jane: Battle for the City” on May 30, 2018 at 6:30 pm, preceded by a happy hour with appetizers at 5:30 pm at the Tiger Tiger Tavern 3025 El Cajon Blvd.

The film portrays the real-life conflict between Jane Jacobs’ organic approach to urban growth and that of the cold modernism of Robert Moses, played out in New York City. The film provides an overview of the two approaches to urban planning and how it resonates today.  Specific projects are used as case studies and there is a final thought given to Moses’ international influences. A post-film discussion will be led by UCSD Urban Studies faculty member Dr. Mirle Bussel.

1.5 CM credits.
