Housing- It has been near or at the top of the list of issues affecting Californians and San Diegans for some time as median rents and housing costs have pushed ever higher, homelessness has grown and new housing construction is not proceeding at a rate that is needed to meet demand. California’s housing affordability crisis was a primary focus of the California Legislature in 2017, culminating with Governor Brown signing into law a historic “housing package” of 15 bills, passed on the last day before the legislative session adjourned. Come hear from staff from state elected offices and the San Diego Association of Governments about how some of the bills are being implemented, what else is being contemplated and what SANDAG is doing about it.
The program will feature:
- Deanna Spehn, Policy Director, Office of Senate President Pro Tempore, Senator Toni G. Atkins
- Stephen Hill, District Director, Office of Assemblymember Todd Gloria, California Assembly Majority Whip
- Coleen Clementson, Principal Planner, San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG)
The cost is $18, with a $15 rate for students.
CM credits pending.
