About the Position:
The ESA’s Southern California Region is seeking an junior to mid-level environmental planner to support the CEQA and NEPA process and documentation for a wide range of development-related projects and plans (i.e., general plans, specific plans, infill projects). The role requires preparation of environmental impact analyses under the direct supervision of a project manager, and will work closely with other ESA analysts and technical staff to prepare environmental documents. This role is well-suited for someone who is embarking on a career in environmental consulting, is a creative problem-solver, independent thinker, and who works well in a collaborative environment. This position will be based out of our San Diego office.
The junior to mid-level CEQA/NEPA planner role requires the initiative, confidence and tenacity to uphold ESA’s strong work-ethic and to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment. This role especially requires exceptional writing and editing capabilities and the ability to research and report on often complex technical materials. Successful candidates will have a broad-based environmental and/or planning related background with a science background a plus although not required, and are generally familiar with the development of environmental documents such as environmental impact reports (EIRs). An ideal candidate would actively participate in professional organizations (AEP, APA, etc.). Qualified candidates should have at least a BA/BS in a related discipline, a minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience; or Masters and a minimum of 1+ year experience.
