Job Description:

Ideal Candidate Profile (PDS)
•Strong written and verbal communications skills, including proven experience in presenting to elected decision-makers, management, community groups, interest groups, and individuals
•Expertise in leading and handling long-range planning projects with successful outcomes
•Expertise in land use/environmental principles in the areas of growth management, zoning and land use regulation, environmental analysis, transportation, capital facilities, and urban design
•Expertise in the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), and other federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances pertaining to the environment
•Expertise in policy development, housing policy, and/or climate action planning
•Understanding of legal basis for planning, zoning, and land development activities
•Demonstrate proven professional level experience as a planner and project manager
•Demonstrate a high degree of motivation and willingness to learn
•Demonstrate a high degree of listening and observation skills, as well as displaying emotional intelligence
•Demonstrate a strong willingness to continually learn and grow professionally
•Maintain a professional perspective, objective demeanor, and flexibility when positive or difficult situations occur
•Review and handle complex projects involving multiple functional groups, departments, consultant teams, or stakeholder groups.
