Hi! I’m Carolina Ilic, and I’m serving as the SDAPA Planning Journal Editor this year. Over the last two years, I served as the Membership and Marketing Co-Chair, and a while back (pre-kids), I served as the Student Rep for SDSU, the Mentorship Coordinator, and the Secretary. I’m a Senior Regional Planner at SANDAG. I’ve been at SANDAG for over 20 years (talk about longevity), and have had the opportunity to work on an amazing range of projects, including the Regional Comprehensive Plan, the Urban Area Transit Strategy, San Diego Forward: The Regional Plan, the TransNet Smart Growth Incentive Program and Active Transportation Grant Program, and most recently, implementation of the Regional Complete Streets Policy. I was born in Chile, and have been a naturalized citizen since my college years. I speak, read, and write fluent Spanish, which has been helpful in the planning profession here in San Diego. Something interesting about me is that I have an identical twin sister (no, she’s not an urban planner… and, FYI, she’s on the right hand side of the picture) and I have fraternal twin daughters – who are both going away to college this August! My hobbies include reading, skiing, taking long walks, listening to great music, and hanging out with fun friends. I hope to see you at upcoming APA events and conferences!
