Hi! I’m Lorena Cordova, and I serve as your SDAPA Professional Development Officer (PDO) for the American Institute Certified Planners (AICP). I am responsible for assisting members who seek to take the AICP exam. I am a San Diego transplant, originally from Central California. I came to San Diego to attend San Diego State University where I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Public Administration with an emphasis in City Planning. I’ve been working in the public sector for over 10 years. Not so long ago, I decided to take the next step in my career and become a certified planner. Now, as a certified planner, I can’t stress the importance of having achieved that milestone and I’m hoping to help others do the same. Eleanor Roosevelt once said “One’s philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes… and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility.” I am glad I decided to become more involved in my profession and grateful for the opportunity to serve on the SDAPA Board of Directors as the PDO for AICP. You will usually find me at a coffee shop, at the office, at Zumba class or at an APA event. If you do spot me, I encourage you to stop me and say hi. Looking forward to it!
