Hello! I’m Stan Donn, and I’m serving as the APA Membership and Marketing Chair. I’ve been a professional planner for over 20 years in both the private and public sector, and am currently a Senior Planner/ Project Manager with the City of Chula Vista for over 16 years. I manage all development-related entitlements, including CEQA review and building activities within the Otay Ranch Village 2 (760-acres) Master Planned Community (MPC), including other discretionary projects in western and eastern Chula Vista. The Village 2 MPC is currently entitled for 4,600 units and is approximately 25% developed. I also worked on Advance Planning projects that include crafting General Plan policy, procedures and ordinances such as the siting and regulations for Electrical Generation Facilities and General Plan amendment guidelines. I’ve been an APA Board member for the San Diego section since 2006-2013 serving as the Professional Development Officer for AICP certification with a high percentage of passers. The training program was passed on to Asha Bleier, who had been through the training program and passed the exam in 2012. I have served as a mentor to young planners, and assist with the State AICP training committee and various SDAPA functions. I was born in Vietnam and grew up in North Park. I can speak and read Vietnamese not fluently but can order “Pho” and other dishes at a Vietnamese restaurant. I love traveling internationally to visit other great cities and places on short-term mission trips, usually in the late spring and fall. I’m a “foodie” and love all kinds of food except chicken feet or creepy crawly things. My favorite sports are cardio gym workouts, grass volleyball, hiking and surfing. I like action and comedy movies, and look forward to connecting with you at future APA events and conferences!
