The Planning Associate will be responsible for compiling land use and environmental data, assisting with the preparation of reports and plans, and providing support for project submittals and community outreach. This position will initially start as a part-time position (approx. 20-24 hours per week). The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include:

  • Researching policies and regulations affecting land use, public utilities, community facilities, housing and transportation
  • Assisting in the preparation of policy and environmental documents, regulatory documents and technical reports for public and private sector clients
  • Assisting in entitlement research for development of project feasibility
  • Reviewing and evaluating environmental impact reports applying to specific private and public planning projects and programs
  • Developing public outreach materials and presentations
  • Participate in community workshops and public meetings after office hours and occasionally on weekends
  • Assist with preparation of submittal applications and packages
  • Occasional site visits

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning or a related field
  • 0-3 years of Planning-related experience

Preferences:

  • Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office applications and graphics software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Aptitude for community outreach
  • Ability to manage tasks and assignments independently under limited supervision
