The City is looking for a candidate that will be a strong team member and can contribute to the organization; that can grow and potentially move up in the organization; that brings the key skills and experiences to the position; and that takes the initiative to improve operations, practices and procedures. The ideal candidate should be action oriented, with leadership qualities to motivate teams; be a clear communicator, and be forward thinking to anticipate and solve potential problems. Under general direction from the Planning and Community Development Director, the position manages, coordinates and directs the City’s major planning efforts, from current planning to long range projects; works closely with a highly-involved community; balances property rights and community image; and develops lasting solutions for planning issues and community concerns. The position also assists the department Director in organizing, integrating and administering the department’s operations and service delivery; supervises professional and technical departmental staff; and performs related work as assigned.
