The City of San Diego is accepting resumes for the unclassified position of Program Manager. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join the management team of the newly formed Planning, Neighborhoods & Economic Development Department. The Program Manager will play an important role in contributing to the Department’s goals to pursue innovative planning that leads to on-the-ground results.

The Program Manager will oversee major planning programs in the Long-Range Planning Division including community plan updates, community plan amendments, and grant projects; managing special projects; providing recommendations on policy development, projects and programs; contributing work product and ideas to planning projects and programs; and coordinating with other City departments and government agencies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing and implementing long-range plans, managing multi-disciplinary consulting teams; working with elected officials and the public; and other skills. Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning or a related field and ten years of work experience, including five years of progressively responsible supervisory or project management experience, would be a typical way to demonstrate these qualifications.

This position is open within an established salary range of approximately $90,000 to $105,000 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience.
