San Diego – California

The 2050 Regional Transportation Plan is the blueprint for a regional transportation system that further enhances the quality of life, promotes sustainability, and offers more mobility options for people and goods. In support of this plan, the newly formed Operations Department is responsible for the management of regional tolling operations inclusive of the State Route 125 toll road, the I-15 Managed Lanes and future facilities, as well as other program areas and functions that will be incorporated into the department to help streamline SANDAG operations. A major focus for this department is to deploy innovative, technology-based solutions, and deliver services to better manage and integrate the San Diego region’s transportation network.

In an effort to consolidate services, SANDAG is now responsible for oversight of the region’s motorist aid programs. This includes the system of highway call boxes and call centers for motorists in distress along with the continued responsibility for the Freeway Service Patrol (FSP) program – the region’s network of California Highway Patrol (CHP) certified tow truck drivers who assist stranded motorists with vehicle difficulty. Knowing that these programs are critical to the region’s efforts to improve safety and reduce congestion on highways, SANDAG continues to work with partner agencies to enhance and expand these value-added services for the San Diego region.

The Senior Operations Services Analyst will play a key role in the management of the call box, Freeway Service Patrol (FSP), and other motorist aid programs for the San Diego region. This newly created position will implement, maintain, and manage contracts, provide program support, perform analysis of service levels, and provide guidance for the strategic direction of these programs. This position will primarily work from our offices in Otay Mesa.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with major course work in regional transportation planning, business/public administration, or a related field and a minimum of five years of progressive career development preferably related to planning, and/or contract/program management in a public transportation field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.

SANDAG rewards the efforts of its employees with a comprehensive compensation package. Competitive salaries are supplemented with a flexible offering of health, financial security, and time-off benefits to meet the work and life needs of employees and their families.
